BECOMING, BY MICHELLE OBAMA

Everybody knows Michelle Obama as the ex First Lady during Barak´s Obama presidency.

However, not everybody is aware that she is also a respected  lawyer and author with over 20 books published as author or coauthor.

Today I want to introduce Becoming.

Becoming is about personal memoirs, it tells us of personal growth through different moments in the life of Mrs. Obama, covered in three parts "Becoming Me", "Becoming Us" and "Becoming More". It shows her personal evolution, the different influences that shaped her life, her relationship with her future husband and the path to further achievement. It recounts different important moments of her life as First Lady and her role along her husband, important to understand historical moments in the recent history of the White House. It describes intimate family moments along her husband and family and how these shaped her, it also dedicates a part to the actual president Donald Trump, his campaign to discredit his predecessor, and the negative effect his presidency is having on the United States.

This is the description of a personal travel, it shares those particular and wonderful experiences that shaped the life of the ex First Lady and later her husband and family. It is also an effort to claim for a space in the current american conscience and to regain a position menaced by their political opponents now in power,

It is of interest for the insight it provides into the workings of the First Couple relationship told from the inside, and the formation of the conscience of a woman of our times and of the future.

Becoming is a book really worth reading.

"Becoming manages to be a coming-of-age tale, a love story and a family saga all in one. More importantly, this book is a reminder that America is still a work-in-progress, and that hope can be an action word if we allow it to be. Becoming is a balm that America needs, from a woman America does not yet deserve."
Angie Thomas, TIME

"Becoming arrives like a glass bottle of decency, preserved from a nationwide garbage fire. This is a straightforward, at times rather dry autobiography from a major public figure that stands in remarkably sharp contrast to the state of our discourse — starting with the man in the White House. Yet that contrast isn’t derived from Obama’s scathing commentary on Donald Trump, which is both brief and somewhat expected, but rather, from the rest — as in, the vast majority — of Becoming, which describes one woman’s growth from the South Side of Chicago to First Lady of the United States, through tales of empowerment and overcoming adversity."
